The sweat shield is a tab of leather coming up on the inside of the holster between the slide and the wearer's body. It protects the gun and the shooter by acting as a buffer. A good idea, but not for all body types. $15.00 | Thin, tough lining that stiffens the holster and puts smooth cowhide next to your prized pistol. A good idea for long holster life. A nice feature to have.
Note: "Any smooth vegetable tanned leather, vs. chrome tanned leather would be good for a lining.
Suede is definitely not recommended for a lining. It absorbs oil, and then dirt, and powder residue stick to the oil, get embedded into the suede, and act like sandpaper on your guns finish.
Most suede is also chrome tanned, which is a process of tanning using chromic acids to soften the leather. All garment leather is chrome tanned for softness, but unless specifically treated to neutralize the chrome salts in the leather, (which most aren't), the chrome tanned leather will eat blueing off a gun in no time. Stick with vegetable tanned leather, either cowhide, or horsehide, for a lining." Lou Alessi $35.00 |
Optional thumbbreak. Not necessary but sometimes required.
Well-designed, quick release retention strap. $25.00 | A border stamp is used to dress up a holster. It can be used with or without a concho, usually around the perimeter of the holster.
Full Stamp treatments have their own borders, so you don't need to add a border stamp to a full stamp. You can combine both but it will reduce the area of the full stamp substantially. $25.00 |
Shown here is a Diamond Stamp with a Fleur de Lis Border (separate item). See the "Picture Gallery" for examples of different designs and available stamping. $40.00 |
